Meet Karen

 Yoga, Health & Nutrition Specialist,
Ayurvedic & Holistic Wellness Coach.
Welcome to my world, where health, fitness, and wellness intertwine in a journey that has shaped my life and purpose.

My journey through the realms of the health and fitness industry has been both diverse and profound, shaped by experiences ranging from competitive highs to the joys of motherhood. As someone who has navigated the peaks of high-level fitness competitions, alongside coaching others to achieve their version, I intimately understand the sacrifices required for peak performance. However, it was during this intense phase that I discovered a holistic approach that transcended the conventional extremes. Welcoming my child into my life at the age of 41 sparked a profound awakening, urging me to reassess how well I truly cared for my body. This pivotal moment became a calling to authentically embrace optimal health, not merely for my benefit but as a legacy for my child. The realisation that appeared superficially healthy was insufficient; true well-being required a deeper commitment. Embracing this transition from competitive fitness to a natural holistic lifestyle, incorporating Yoga as a means to stay fit and manage postpartum life. Yet, what began as a physical practice evolved into a transformative journey of self-discovery. Yoga became a powerful tool for connecting with mind and body on a deeper level, silencing the chatter in my mind, for shedding emotional baggage and reconnecting with my true self. This revelation fueled my passion to become a Yoga teacher, as I recognised the profound impact of integrating alternative and holistic approaches to living. The journey didn't end there. I was introduced to Ayurveda, the sister science of Yoga. Ayurveda, meaning "science of life," is the guiding force to achieve balance in both body and mind. As I discovered a little further ahead on my journey of discovery, it was about to have a profound impact on my life, which shapes the way I live my life as well as the teachings I am so passionate about today. Now, let me share a personal journey that I've held close to my heart. A few years back, I found myself engulfed in waves of anxiety, grappling with stress levels unlike anything I'd ever experienced. Despite my laid-back demeanour, inner turmoil raged relentlessly. Nights became battlegrounds against insomnia, as my mind raced with to-do lists and worries, rendering sleep a distant dream. Little did I grasp then the profound significance of sleep for both mental and physical well-being, both in the moment and in the long run. The repercussions were swift and severe: fatigue consumed my days, caffeine became a crutch just to function, and self-care plummeted to the bottom of my priorities. To compound matters, I found myself grappling with an unexpected weight gain – a first in my life, and certainly not by choice. Navigating through a myriad of diets and programs that once served me well in my 30s only left me disheartened and demotivated, unable to reclaim the vitality of my earlier years. The truth I had long evaded stared me down unrelentingly: I was gracefully (or perhaps not so gracefully) traversing the terrain of perimenopause. It was a bitter pill to swallow, shadowed by a sense of shame and a culture of silence surrounding this natural phase of life. In hindsight, it's disheartening how our society perpetuates the suppression of women's struggles and the scarcity of knowledge surrounding menopausal transitions. While progress has been made in destigmatising these conversations, the journey to enlightenment remains a dig into the depths. Amidst this fog of uncertainty, I stumbled upon my guiding beacon: a return to the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, the path I had previously encountered during my yoga journey. It felt like rediscovering a long-lost treasure trove, where suddenly, the pieces of my life began to fit together seamlessly. Immersing myself in Ayurvedic teachings, I unearthed a profound truth: we are each unique beings, and no single diet or lifestyle fits all. Embracing this philosophy, I delved into extensive training and exploration, understanding that our bodies and needs evolve continuously. While Western medicine resigns menopausal symptoms to inevitability, Ayurveda offers a contrary perspective: identifying imbalances and offering a plethora of tools and practices for transformation. Embracing these principles, I learned to navigate this phase of life with poise and resilience. By making subtle yet significant adjustments to my diet, exercise, and daily routine – paying heed not only to what I did but when I did it – I witnessed the symptoms wane. Energy surged, motivation soared, and those stubborn pounds began to melt away. Life regained its vibrancy, as did my passion and purpose. Fueled by my own metamorphosis, I am dedicated to empowering women in their 40s and beyond to reclaim their health, and embrace this natural journey with vibrancy, vitality and wisdom. Maybe my journey resonates with you too? If so, just imagine surpassing your health goals and overcoming those limitations and symptoms you thought were going to be hanging around forever.
